Donald
Young
Don
Young is a professional safari guide with over twenty-five year's
experience, a scholar regarded as one of the world's experts on
African explorers, and a published author. Originally trained
as an historian and physical anthropologist specializing in forensic
osteology (the study of human bones to determine their history),
Don continues his studies with a special interest in the continuing
discoveries in human evolution in Africa, and the pre-historic
cave and rock paintings of Africa in particular.
Don frequently lectures in the USA, Canada, and England on subjects
ranging from African pre-history, to the exploration of Africa,
to wildlife conservation. Having studied with the masters the ancient
art of storytelling, Don has collected dozens of legends and folk
tales and, combined with his own true tales of adventure, shares
his stories with his safari guests each evening around the campfire.
Don is an active conservationist and serves on the Board of Directors
of the African Elephant Conservation Trust. He is a Fellow of the
Royal Geographical Society, a member of the Explorer's Club of New
York, and has served as Dean of Faculty for the 1998 WPO (World
President's Organization) Africa University. In October 2003 Don
was chosen to organize and guide the “Planet’s Best
Safari” a one hour special featured on the Discovery Channel. |
